The LGBT community chose the month of June to be the pride month in memoir of the Stonewall Riots, which occurred in June, 1969. After fifty years of the historical riots, there is not a official version of the facts. There is no clue about what started the fight that night; there are guessings but no strong information. Whatever it started the Stonewall at that time helped the LGBT community. Because of it, President Clinton declared June as pride month in 2000. Then Obama did recognize the month and in 2015 the supreme court legalized marriage equality. Isn’t it crazy that just passed four years since that? Why did that took so long?

As sad as it can sound, it is better later than ever. But it would be really wonderful for the past generations to have the rights that LGBT people have now. And even so, in 2019, there are still people who discriminate LGBT people. Why is it so difficult for the human being to let live other happily and in peace? It is not understandable. Just live and let live shall be anybody life motto. And let’s be clear about something: there is no need to be LGBT to be supportive. Go spread the love.

You need to calm down

The new Tay Tay’s single.

And speaking of: Taylor Swift just release her new song ‘you need to calm down’. And what does have that to do with pride month? Everything! It turned out that as some people mentioned that she wasn’t supporting the LGBT community, she just decided to clear that out. A lot of famous LGTB people appeared in the video: Ellen Degeneres, Todrick Hall, Hayley Kiyoko, Ru Paul, Tan France and Adam Lambert, just to mention a few.

But that is not all. Swift and Perry left their history behind and now is all calm again. They showed it to the world in the video as well. Another star that appears in the new single is Ryan Reynolds. He is painting the Stone Hall Inn, making the reference of where all begins. And you can find Ciara in it too, blessing a gay marriage.

The MEE! singer also showed her support for the feminist communitty as she added the famous quote of Cher: «Mom, I am a rich man». This means that women do not need mans to live.

Seems like Taylor Swift is spreading the love for her LGBT fans and comunnity, while she leaves some punches for the critics and the press. This last one is already saying that Swift is not honest and egocentric. No matter if she is being honest or not, this is great for the community. Having so many celebrities supporting the pride month is something to celebrate. Don’t let anybody ruin your hapinness ever, and remember to calm down.

Happy Pride Month!
